Redefining Leadership Through Compassion

Craig talks with executive leadership coach Nadine Mendelek Theimann about why leading with compassion is more important than ever in the new normal and how the best leaders define reality and inspire hope.

Summary

Since mid-March of 2020, we’ve faced an expanding global pandemic, associated extreme economic volatility and mass protests over racial injustice. The convergence of these three crises has many business leaders questioning if their leadership skills that they have honed over the years will be the same skills they will need to face the challenges of the “new normal.”

In this new normal, leading with compassion is more important than ever before—because the best leaders define reality and inspire hope. Host Craig Welch from BlackMoss Partners spoke with Nadine Mendelek Theimann about what type of leader is needed for the new normal.

Topics we discussed:

  • What defines a mindful, compassionate and purpose-driven leader

  • What is most important for a leader to be during a crisis—mindfulness, compassion or purpose-driven?

  • What are the best ways to measure mindfulness, compassion and purpose in a leader

  • How the old school resilient leadership types can evolve to the new “compassionate” leadership style and still drive profits

  • Why is it so critical now more than ever for leaders to be agile
